Per Fluoro Alkoxy
PFA was first commercialised in 1973 and is regarded as a true thermoplastic due to its ability to be processed like conventional thermoplastics because of its melt viscosity, which is significantly lower than PTFE and its macromolecular structure of perfluorinated side chains.
PFA has high thermal stability and has shown resistance to temperatures up to 250°C for up to 10,000 hours.
Mechanically, PFA has high creep strength and flexural modulus while electrically it has very good insulating properties. Flame resistance is also another feature.
PFA is also available as coating which can be applied to many varied metal substrates.
